Is it an ugly bridge?

Mind the Gap?

Sorry, but I'm going to leave a huge amount unsaid for the time being. It's not that I haven't got a lot to say - it's just that my photos of the Hatton flight are still in the camera, awaiting the completion of the software rebuild and we like ilustrated blogs.

However, just so that you get the flavour of the day, here are narrowboats Petroc and Epiphany in one of the locks, with Gill and I (John) at our respective controls. You might see that I am not concentrating 100% on the boat - see yesterday's blog for details. Thanks to friend John (the little one) for the photo.

Sharing a lock

We did some, what I think Gill termed, "ice-dancing". Usually we travelled between locks in parallel, side-by-side. But as we came out of one lock, another pair were coming out of the one below, so Petroc went right and Epiphany went left, allowing the ascending boats to pass between us. We then re-formed in time to go, side-by-side, into the succeeding lock. It was thought to be quite impressive by some gongoozlers! (And me! - temp Ed is on weekend leave from Harefield but still leaving the blogging to "him who has been there"!)

Going round corners with two 57' narrowboats is also an impossibility. Here you see us going under a descriptively named bridge.

All being well, by tomorrow evening I'll be ready to restore normal service - fingers crossed!
