Ready to go South

Back from the Wedding

Well, we're ready for the off again - or should I say, I? The singular is more accurate, since, as you know, I am on Epiphany without my dearly beloved for a few days, whilst she lives in the manner she is far too accustomed to, courtesy of the NHS. However, "she lives", which is the most important thing. Now we both have to be patient while we wait for her to be released to the life she so enjoys - afloat.

We are so very grateful to Geoff and Gill for their company on Petroc recently, and for Geoff's narrowboat Epiphany-sitting while I was away - particularly running the engine to keep the battery charged. When I returned to Lapworth, via train and the taxi made necessary by the ubiquitous weekend engineering works, it was a bit too late to do anything but unpack and hit the sack. However, next day, while we waited for Gill to overcome the latest saga in Chiltern Railways' ineffiencies, the male crew members were pleased to sample the delights available at the Navigation. I was pleased to find St. Austell Ales' Tribute on tap.

Sadly, I had missed the Scarecrow Event, but Geoff said it was quite impressive.

This mooring has been one of the best - no list, peaceful and with springs for the boat  fore and aft, no problems. The blue-green algae wich BW is warning of was evident in the water (although maybe my colour blindness removed all trace of the blue?), but as I don't drink canal water that didn't bother me. The plants are beginning to be past their best, but I think that's more because of the autumn than the watering.

Tomorrow I'll be begiining another journey blog, but for now I have to continue to rebuild the laptop which has a corrupt Windows. That takes time, patience and care, which I hope I will be able to gather.
